Responsive ads automatically adjust their size, appearance and format to fit available ad spaces. Your responsive ad might show as a native ad on one site and a text ad on another, automatically transforming itself to fit based on your targeting and campaign goals, thus providing a significantly better performance than image-based display ads that are built to different sizes.
Optimise ads: When you create a responsive display ad by uploading different assets to Google Ads, Google uses a machine learning model to determine the optimal combination of assets for each ad slot based on predictions built from your performance history.
Broaden reach: Multiple assets can be uploaded per asset type (for example, multiple headlines, logos and images). The ads that Google assembles automatically adjust their size, appearance and format to fit just about any available ad space.
Save time: Using responsive display ads, you can reduce your overhead for managing ad portfolios within ad groups and campaigns, and dedicate more time to performance improvement.
To give you access to all of our ad formats, images are required. Having multiple assets is recommended, because this makes it easier for Google to optimise your ads. You can upload up to 15 marketing images and up to 5 logos. You can crop a single image to the landscape or square formats, or you use separate images for each aspect ratio.
Landscape - keep in mind that your landscape image should have a ratio of 1.91:1 and be greater than 600 x 314. The file size limit is 5MB.
Square - keep in mind that your square (1:1) image should be 300 x 300 or greater. The file size limit is 5MB.
Logo - keep in mind that your logo should be square (1:1) and should be 128 x 128 or greater. For best rendering, it is also recommended to add a landscape (4:1) logo, which should be 512 x 128 or greater. For all your logos, a transparent background is best, but only if the logo is centered. The file size limit is 5MB.
Image text in responsive ads - text (including logos with text) that covers more than 20% of the image is not allowed.
Animation in responsive ads - animated images (such as animated GIFs) are not allowed. Check the steps on how to create a responsive display ad here.
The GDN allows you to run the same text ads on display as you would on the search network. Text ads consist of a headline and two lines of text, and allow advertisers to create a range of ads to text to know which copy is generating the most clicks.
Headline
People are most likely to notice your headline text first, so consider including words that people may enter in their Google search.
Display URL
The display URL, usually in green, shows your website address. This display URL is made up of the domain from your final URL and the text in the optional “Path” fields. These fields are designed to help people who see your ad get a better sense of where they’ll be taken when they click it. Your path text doesn’t have to match the exact language of your display URL.
Description
Use the description fields to highlight details about your product or service. It’s a good idea to include a “call to action” - the action you want your customer to take.
